Government

Government enterprises are complex, geographically dispersed collection of networks delivering on operationally diverse missions.

As agencies begin to evaluate and deploy the next generation of Internet Protocol (IPv6) technologies and security applications, now is the time to strategically migrate to a unifying infrastructure that delivers high speed, reliability and security within a single high-performance Ethernet network.

Force10 Networks works with defense, intelligence and civilian agencies to advance the bandwidth needs and reliability demands of government IT infrastructure while ensuring the economics and performance of mission critical networks.

The Force10 S-Series™ , C-Series™ and E-Series® Ethernet switch/routers running FTOS (Force10 operating system) software version 7.8, received Common Criteria certification to the Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL-2). The certification validates that the FTOS design, software development methodology, and multi-layered security mechanisms meet or exceed the second evaluation assurance level for controlled access as defined by the international standard.  In addition, the E-Series family of switch/routers has successfully passed the U.S. Army Technology Integration Center (TIC) evaluation tests and is included on the I3MP recommended product list.

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) has listed Force10’s Traverse® and TraverseEdge™ multiservice transport platforms and the Adit® 600 converged services access gateway on the Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UCAPL). This listing results from extensive security and interoperability certification testing performed by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). Receipt of this JITC certification verifies that the Adit 600 adheres to various contract and testing requirements mandated by the DoD, making the purchase and deployment of the platform an easier process for the DoD as well as approved intelligence and civilian agencies.

The Force10 Broadmore® product family Common Criteria EAL-3 validated and FIPS 140-2 Level 1 validated.

Force10 Networks Delivers Density, Performance to NCSA for 8-Teraflop TeraGrid Cluster

“When we were looking at these numbers, a big concern was how many switch/routers it would take to interconnect all of them,” says Patrick Dorn, NCSA network engineer. “What really attracted us to Force10 was the density that we could get in a single chassis—and still achieve line-rate performance. It’s more cost effective, it’s easier for us to manage, and we get better performance."

Force10 Network Solutions Enable Japan’s Grid Technology Research Center to Achieve New Levels of Computational Speed and Performance

"The Force10 E-Series has fully responded to our demand for speed and reliability, providing stable service," said Dr. Yuetsu Kodama, Cluster Technology Team Senior Researcher. "We’ve had no trouble whatsoever since the start of operations." Added technical staff member Mr. Hirofumi Okazaki: "The Force10 E-Series, with its simple operations, is easy to use. And it’s easy to manage the equipment."
