Tolly Tested: Force10 S-Series S2410

Force10 Networks, Inc. commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate its S-Series S2410 data center switch, a one rack unit 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) switch designed to aggregate traditional, blade and emerging 10 GbE servers as well as serve as a high speed, low latency interconnect for tightly coupled cluster computing architectures. Test highlights

• Achieves 100% of line-rate zero-loss throughput when tested across 24 full-mesh 10 GbE ports, when handling more then a dozen frame sizes ranging from 64 bytes to 10,240 bytes
• Sustains 100% zero-loss, line-rate throughput across 24 10 GbE line-rate ports when tested with multiple packet sizes in a snake configuration
• Demonstrates very low latency, on average just 210 ~ 311 nanoseconds, across the 10 tested frame sizes, ranging from 64 bytes to 10,240 bytes
