Force10 Networks to Demonstrate Network Automation Capabilities for VMware Environments at Interop

Attendees to See How Virtualization Automates Network Management Tasks for Dynamic Data Centers

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 26, 2010 – Force10 Networks, Inc., the global technology leader that data center, service provider and enterprise customers rely on when the network is their business, today announced it will demonstrate interoperable network automation technologies with ecosystem partner VMware at Interop 2010 from April 25-29 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. At booth #939, Force10 chassis-based C-Series resilient switches running in conjunction with VMware vCenter™ Server will demonstrate next-generation solutions for dynamically changing network configurations as well as orchestration techniques when increased user demand requires additional network resources.

“As users demand greater network performance and agility, we expect them to increasingly leverage server and network virtualization as proven methods to quickly increase application instances and the amount of available server processing,” says Parag Patel, vice president, alliances, VMware. “VMware vSphere™ complements the scalable, line-rate performance of Force10 Networks chassis-based switches to help data center managers dynamically allocate network resources by orchestrating configuration and management tasks.”

Automated Switch Configuration Demo Based on Dynamic Changes to VMware vSphere Running with Force10 Resilient Switch
During demonstrations at Interop 2010, a Force10 C150 resilient switch using the VMware vSphere™ SDK for Perl will, in real time, automatically provision new VLANs, or reconfigure existing ones, based on changes to the VMware environment. Server and network configurations are synchronized when creating, moving or removing virtual machines.

“To fulfill the promise of cloud computing, virtualization technology must see widespread adoption in the network,” says Steve Garrison, vice president of marketing, Force10 Networks. “Our demonstration with VMware illustrates that standards-based network automation architecture is already solving tangible business problems by increasing availability, agility and efficiency in the data center – all while lowering opex costs.”
