Internet Telephony Magazine Awards Its 2009 Product of the Year to Force10 Networks’ ExaScale Switch/Router

Force10’s virtualized core switch/router is the only data center product recognized

SAN JOSE, Calif., February 22, 2010 – Force10 Networks, Inc., the global technology leader that data center, service provider and enterprise customers rely on when the network is their business, today announced that its ExaScale™ virtualized core switch/router has been named a 2009 Product of the Year award winner by Technology Marketing Corporation’s (TMC®) INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine. The magazine’s editors made their selection based on those companies that have demonstrated the vision, leadership, innovation and thoroughness in developing their solutions.

“INTERNET TELEPHONY is proud to grant Force10 Networks a 2009 Product of the Year Award for their ExaScale virtualized core switch/router Force10 has proven its commitment to quality and excellence while addressing real needs in the marketplace,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC.  “We’re happy to recognize and honor Force10 Networks for their development of IP communications technology.  We look forward to more innovative solutions from them in the future.”

Designed for High Performance, Reliability and Flexibility
The Force10 ExaScale E-Series virtualized core switch/router is implicitly designed to support the highest performance data center, enterprise or service provider network. Its price/performance ratio as well as its Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) port density enables seamless growth while ensuring investment protection and lower power and cooling costs. For example, the ExaScale E1200 chassis can scale up to an industry-leading 140 line-rate 10 GbE ports per chassis, while its 100 Gbps of useable data capacity per slot ensures that it is 40 GbE- and 100 GbE-ready today.

The ExaScale E-Series is the foundation for Force10’s Virtualization Framework™ and provides the multi-terabit platform required to power advanced data centers and cloud computing environments. As budget pressure has intensified globally, data center network managers are turning to virtualization technologies that increase the availability of business-critical applications while lowering the total cost of IT infrastructure ownership.

The Force10 Virtualization Framework utilizes open, standards-based data center automation and orchestration technology to promote greater efficiency and agility within the data center. By integrating standards-based technology for real-time network traffic analysis and management, enterprises can maximize existing networking resources while building in the flexibility they require to rapidly respond to changing application requirements.

“We’re proud and appreciative that INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine has chosen the ExaScale switch/router as the only leading data center product recognized in these 2009 awards,” says Steve Garrison, vice president of marketing, Force10 Networks. “Looking ahead, as market challenges continue to gain in complexity, we anticipate that our enterprise customers will increasingly leverage ExaScale to help optimize their data center through the deployment of the switch/router’s network virtualization and automation capabilities.”
