FORCE10 NETWORKS INITIATES COMMON CRITERIA EVALUATION ACROSS PRODUCT PORTFOLIO TO MEET GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT MANDATES
SAN JOSE, Calif., February 27, 2008 – Force10 Networks®, the pioneer in building and securing reliable networks, today announced that it has initiated a Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation of its Reliable Networking product portfolio. The Common Criteria evaluation of the Force10 TeraScale E-Series family of switch/routers, C-Series family of resilient switches, S-Series family of access switches and P-Series family of security appliances will provide third-party validation of product security features and meet government agency procurement requirements.
“Force10 is committed to providing the reliability, scalability and network control that organizations require to transform their networks into strategic assets,” said George DeLisle, vice president of Federal sales at Force10 Networks. “Common Criteria evaluation provides the third party assurance that Force10’s products deliver the performance and security that government agencies require across their networks.”
Common Criteria provides a standardized methodology for evaluating security features of IT products and is recognized by more than 20 countries. Meeting Common Criteria requirements is also mandated for hardware and software products that are deployed by the Federal government. By conforming to Common Criteria standards across its product portfolio, Force10 demonstrates that it can provide performance consistency and reliability across the network.
Force10 Networks has engaged consulting firm Apex Assurance Group to lead its comprehensive effort to ensure its products meet Common Criteria standards. The firm works with Fortune 500 and private companies to manage the strategy and execution of security certifications such as Common Criteria.
“Security remains a top concern for government agencies as they look to procure IT products and services,” said Ray Potter, managing director and founder of Apex Assurance Group. “This substantial undertaking by Force10 demonstrates their continuing dedication to meeting the requirements of governmental agencies by offering them independent, third-party assurance.”
In addition to Common Criteria evaluation, the General Services Administration (GSA) has approved the Force10 TeraScale E-Series, C-Series and P-Series for its Group 70 IT schedule. immixTechnology represents the TeraScale E-Series on its GSA schedule, providing Force10 with expanded access to federal, state and local government agencies that rely on GSA schedules as their preferred procurement vehicles.
The Force10 Reliable Networking product portfolio delivers the reliability, scalability and network control that provides organizations with the flexibility to adapt to new applications and changing business requirements.
