eHARMONY EXPANDS FORCE10 NETWORKS DEPLOYMENT WITH C-SERIES RESILIENT SWITCH TO SUPPORT BUSINESS CRITICAL OPERATIONS

SAN JOSE, Calif., January 8, 2008 – Force10 Networks®, the pioneer in building and securing reliable networks, today announced that eHarmony has deployed the C300 resilient switch to support business critical operations without impacting the performance of its online relationship service.  With the C300, eHarmony extends an earlier deployment of the Force10 TeraScale E-Series® that powers its 24x7 applications, including its signature relationship service.  

“The C300s complement the core switching functionality of the E-Series by enabling us to cost effectively add more network ports in addition to another layer of redundancy,” said Cyrus Mohit, manager of data center operations at eHarmony.  “The line-rate, non-blocking performance of the Force10 C300 has allowed us to conduct bandwidth-intensive, business critical operations without impacting the applications that require 24x7 availability.”

Purpose-built for demanding networking environments, the Force10 C300 provides industry leading reliability, network control and scalability to power the backup and network management tasks for eHarmony and its more than 17 million registered users.  Support within the Force10 C300 for high density Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet allowed eHarmony to leverage iSCSI technology, rather than Fibre Channel, to connect with its storage area network.  As a result, eHarmony was able to consolidate its network infrastructure, easing management tasks, such as capacity planning.

With its modular Force10 Operating System (FTOS) software, the C300 provides inherent stability and flexibility that enables eHarmony to quickly adapt to changes in its network and easily scale to support the 10,000-15,000 new users added every day.  Additionally, the built-in reliability features of the Force10 C300 guarantee maximum network uptime and ensure that the back office applications do not impact eHarmony’s customer facing services.
