FORCE10 NETWORKS WINS OUTSTANDING INNOVATOR AWARD FROM THE ASSOCIATION OF GERMAN INTERNET INDUSTRY
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 20, 2007 – Force10 Networks®, the pioneer in building and securing reliable networks, today announced it has received the Outstanding Innovator Award from the Association of German Internet Industry (ECO) for the advanced high performance design of the TeraScale E-Series® family of switch/routers. In particular, the award recognizes the ability of the Force10 TeraScale E-Series to enable customers to increase network reliability and lower long-term total ownership costs.
“Without the products and research and development work of a company like Force10, the ability to scale infrastructure to meet future Internet traffic needs would be adversely affected,” said Harald Summa, CEO of ECO and Central European Internet exchange DE-CIX. “Their tremendous technological innovations help data centers consistently answer the growing demand for Internet access in Europe and around the world.”
Force10 was named Outstanding Innovator for its unique system-level designs and patented approaches to ensuring predictable and consistent throughput – innovations that enable the Force10 TeraScale E-Series to deliver reliability, network control and scalability. Specifically, ECO highlighted the advanced passive copper backplane of the TeraScale E-Series. Tested up to five Terabits per second, the backplane provides the per slot capacity to support 100 Gigabit Ethernet, providing network managers with long-term investment protection.
“ECO represents more than 200,000 German IT professionals from over 300 companies, which points to the significance of this award,” said Stephen Garrison, vice president of marketing at Force10 Networks. “Our history of innovation is validated not only by this award, but by the hundreds of service providers, enterprise data centers and government labs around the world who rely on Force10 for their network infrastructure”
Force10 was among 13 winners named from more than 200 applicants. The award was presented yesterday at the ECO Awards Gala in Cologne, Germany.
Founded in 1995, the goal of ECO is to enhance the commercial use of the Internet, thereby strengthening Germany’s position both in the global Internet economy and as a business location in general. The association represents some 300 members, including all of the approximately 150 major Internet service providers in Germany.
