JAPANESE DIGITAL MEDIA LEADER IMPRESS GROUP BRINGS HIGH PERFORMANCE RESILIENCY TO DATA CENTER WITH FORCE10 NETWORKS TERASCALE E-SERIES

SAN JOSE, Calif., December 18, 2006 – Force10 Networks® today announced that Impress Group, Japan's largest digital media corporation, has deployed the TeraScale E-Series® family of switch/routers in the core of its data center to interconnect databases, storage and web applications in a resilient, high performance network that delivers long-term scalability. With the Force10 TeraScale E-Series anchoring its data center, Impress can support more than 190 million page views per month.

“The level of resiliency we are looking for in our network is similar to that of a carrier,” said Chiharu Kitamura, manager of the Technology Department at Impress. “The Force10 E-Series not only gave us this resiliency in an enterprise-friendly system but also provides us with the scalability that will allow us to expand our network for seven to eight years.”

The Force10 TeraScale E-Series combines leading density and unmatched resiliency to bring the predictable performance and seamless scalability enterprises like Impress Group require in their data centers. As the home of an enterprise’s most valuable assets, quick and reliable access to the data center is crucial. The unique multi-processor architecture of the Force10 TeraScale E-Series distributes switching, routing and management functionality between three distinct processors to provide carrier-like resiliency. Additionally, redundancy at all system levels maximizes network uptime to ensure access to the data center.

Supporting 288 Gigabit and 48 Ten Gigabit Ethernet ports in a single system, the Force10 TeraScale E300 also provides Impress with the high density it needs to scale its network as traffic grows.

“Cutting edge companies like Impress are consistently turning to the Force10 E-Series to anchor their data centers and interconnect the resources that are most important to their business,” said Mark Cooper, senior vice president of worldwide sales at Force10 Networks. “From density to resiliency, the TeraScale E-Series is designed to deliver high value to a company’s infrastructure while providing long-term investment protection.”

From the beginning of the Internet era, Impress has been deeply engaged in providing digital content. In 1996, Impress established Japan’s first email news service, INTERNET Watch and, in 2000, began streaming over the Internet with Impress TV. Impress Watch, the IT news service that Impress Group currently operates, has nine million unique users per month and more than 190 million views.
