FORCE10 NETWORKS TO HIGHLIGHT BENEFITS OF 10 GIGABIT ETHERNET IN ENTERPRISE CONVERGENCE DURING WEBINAR
MILPITAS, Calif., July 14, 2004 — Force10 Networks will review the steps that network operators should take today in order to be prepared for the transition to 10 Gigabit Ethernet in enterprise networks during a webinar on Thursday, July 15 at 2:00 pm EDT. Hosted by Light Reading, the webinar, “Enterprise Convergence: The Cost of Change,” will examine the architectural requirements and business implications of running voice, video and data over enterprise infrastructure.
Moderated by Geoff Bennett, chief technologist for Heavy Reading, the program will feature Stephen Garrison, senior director of marketing for Force10 Networks and Marie Hattar, director of convergence solutions at Nortel Networks (NYSE: NT). The panel will discuss the enterprise applications that are driving the convergence trend and how enterprises can cost-effectively plan for the growing requirement for network resiliency.
Increasingly, enterprises are deploying 10 Gigabit Ethernet in their data centers to accommodate new bandwidth-intensive multi-media applications and in network backbones to aggregate Gigabit Ethernet connections. Recently Veritas DGC deployed the Force10 E-Series to build advanced clusters that process high fidelity imaging solutions. Additionally, Petroleum Geo-Services deployed the Force10 E-Series and is now running existing applications up to six times faster, significantly reducing the time it takes to process comprehensive data analysis.
Registration for the webinar is at www.lightreading.com/webinar.asp?doc_id=26992.
The Force10 E-Series combines unmatched scalability with best-in-class resiliency to provide a new level of network and application predictability. Leveraging three distinct processing units for switching, routing and management functionality, the Force10 EtherScale architecture enables the E-Series to reliably deliver line-rate Gigabit and 10 Gigabit throughput across all ports regardless of traffic conditions.
