FORCE10 E-SERIES SWITCH/ROUTERS EXCEL DURING INFOWORLD 10 GIGABIT ETHERNET TESTS
MILPITAS, Calif., January 20, 2004 — The Force10 E-Series of next-generation switch/routers “screamed through even our toughest tests,” according to InfoWorld’s most recent 10 Gigabit Ethernet measurements. Published in the Jan. 19 edition of the leading IT weekly, the tests showed that the E-Series proved itself as a high performing, scalable networking solution.
The article highlighted the performance of the Force10 E-Series, remarking, “Force10 impressed us again with its performance power and multiple-ASIC architecture.” The test also commented on Force10’s EtherScale system architecture, stating that it, “allows Force10 to pump non-blocking, line rate forwarding across all its switch ports, whether 1GbE or 10GbE ports, even when we applied ACL [access control list] and QoS requirements.”
InfoWorld’s 10 Gigabit Ethernet test put Force10’s E600 and E300 through rigorous tests that measured performance and scalability in a variety of demanding situations, including supporting high definition television traffic and long link tests. The Force10 E600, which scales up to 168 Gigabit Ethernet or fourteen 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports per chassis, delivered the predictable line-rate performance across all tests that high performance networking environments require.
“The Force10 E-Series is carefully designed to provide the right mix of scalability and resiliency to deliver the performance network operators would like in every part of their network,” said Stephen Garrison, Force10's vice president of corporate marketing. “These tests prove what Force10’s customers already know; the E-Series is an impressive combination of technology, innovative thinking and raw performance.”
The Force10 E-Series combines unmatched scalability with best-in-class resiliency to give network operators a new level of network and application predictability. At the heart of the E-Series is the Force10 EtherScale architecture, which provides a secure and reliable foundation for advanced networking and computing environments.
