FORCE10 NETWORKS NAMES HOWARD LEE COUNTRY MANAGER OF KOREA

MILPITAS, Calif., December 17, 2003 — Force10 Networks today announced that it has named Howard Lee country manager of Korea. Lee, a networking industry veteran with more than 17 years experience, will direct Force10’s Korea operations and business strategies.

“Korea’s networking industry is a technological beacon, becoming an early adopter of the industry’s most advanced technologies,” said Marc Randall, CEO and president of Force10 Networks. “Howard’s unique combination of industry experience and customer-focused professionalism will spearhead Force10’s expansion into the dynamic Korean market.”

Lee joins Force10 Networks as 10 Gigabit Ethernet technology is beginning to be deployed in large telecommunications carrier and campus networks. Hanaro Telecom, South Korea’s second largest carrier, recently deployed Force10’s E-Series switch/routers in a nationwide expansion of its network. The new 10 Gigabit Ethernet network increases high-capacity connectivity for a wide range of broadband services.

“Force10 has an unparalleled reputation for customer satisfaction and high quality technology,” said Howard Lee, Force10’s country manager of Korean operations. “As Korea begins the second stage of its networking evolution, Force10 will play a pivotal role in shaping next-generation networks.”

Prior to joining Force10, Lee was general manager of Asia Pacific operations at Riverstone Networks, where he was responsible for planning regional business strategies for Korea, greater China, Singapore and Japan, territories that accounted for as much as 50 percent of the company’s quarterly sales. Prior to being appointed general manager, Lee built a $16 million annual business as country manager of Korea for Riverstone. Earlier Lee was vice president of sales and marketing at A.T.M. Networks, and channel manager of Cisco Korea. Lee received a BSEE from Kyung Pook National University and an MBA from Munich University.

Sixty-five percent of South Korea’s 16 million households have broadband connections – the world's highest broadband penetration. According to the International Telecommunications Union, 94 percent of all Internet subscribers in South Korea subscribe to broadband, a rate that is approximately three years ahead of the global average.
